Pearson’s current sequence is: scan a passport or Canadian permanent resident card, take the requested photo, answer declaration questions, then take the receipt to a border services officer. Up to five travellers living in the same country can use a kiosk together.
ArriveCAN Advance Declaration: up to 72 hours
The optional Advance Declaration can be submitted up to 72 hours before arrival. After landing, follow Advance Declaration/Express Lane signage, scan the travel document at a kiosk/eGate, review and certify the saved declaration, then take the receipt to CBSA.
New dedicated “Goods to Declare” lane
Pearson and CBSA introduced a clearly marked Goods to Declare lane across both terminals as a pilot launched May 28. Travellers still present their declaration to CBSA; use the marked lane when carrying goods that must be declared rather than choosing an exit based on guesswork.
Family Zone in the international-arrivals area
Since June 2026, T3 has a Family Zone with PIK machines configured for families plus nearby interactive sensory boards to help occupy children while guardians complete arrival processing.
Clear U.S. Customs before boarding
U.S.-bound travellers clear CATSA screening and U.S. CBP at Pearson. Current Pearson guidance lists CATSA opening at 3:00 a.m. and U.S. CBP processing from 3:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. in both terminals. Ask where the bag is tagged before the first flight
Pearson says a connecting passenger may need to retrieve a bag and place it on a connection drop-off belt even when it is tagged onward. If it is not tagged to the next/final destination, you will definitely need to collect and recheck it. Separate tickets deserve a larger buffer.
