LAS decoded: Las Vegas airport code, terminals and Strip travel guide
Use the airport code to get the right airport, then solve the trip: Terminal 1 or 3, D-gate connections, TSA, Strip taxi zones, rideshare pickup, parking, rental cars and current airport alerts.
Check these official live pages before leaving
Use the guide for planning, then use live sources for anything that can change during the day. Airport-wide FAA status and an individual airline flight status are different checks.
What is the Vegas airport code?
LAS is the three-letter passenger/IATA code for Harry Reid International Airport, the main commercial airport serving Las Vegas. KLAS is the ICAO code used in aviation operations, while the FAA location identifier is also LAS.
Airport live checks & travel tools
Use current local conditions, official live-status links and planning calculators before you travel. Airline gate, terminal and flight times can change; your carrier remains the final source for flight-specific details.
Live flight center
Check the airport's official flight board, then confirm any last-minute gate or timing change with the airline.
Current airport-area weather
Useful for planning your trip to the airport. This is model-based local weather, not an aviation METAR or an airline operational forecast.
Quick official checks
Open the source that matches the decision you are making right now.
When should I reach the airport?
A planning estimate based on flight type and common time buffers. Always increase the buffer for severe weather, major holidays, unusual airport alerts or airline instructions.
Connection-risk checker
This is a planning heuristic, not an airline minimum-connection-time rule. International arrivals that require U.S. entry processing, baggage claim and security can need substantially more time.
Parking cost estimator
Uses the airport-specific rates stored in this article's configuration. Rates can change; verify availability and final pricing on the official parking page before driving in.
Passenger pickup readiness
Landing time is not curb-ready time. Add time for taxiing, deplaning, baggage claim, customs when applicable and walking to the correct pickup zone.
Tickets, baggage tags and consumer flight searches.
Operational aviation and flight-planning systems.
U.S. airport/facility identifier.
Harry Reid International Airport.
Same airport; the LAS code did not change.
LAS airport code location
LAS is at 5757 Wayne Newton Boulevard, Las Vegas, NV 89119, immediately southeast of the central resort corridor. North Las Vegas Airport uses VGT; it is a different airport.
Crossword clue: when the Vegas airport answer is LAS
For a clue asking for a three-letter Vegas airport code, the factual airport answer is normally LAS. That is the real code on airline tickets and baggage tags, not puzzle-only shorthand.
What about a specific NYT crossword?
Use the exact clue wording and crossing letters before filling a particular New York Times grid. Puzzle clues vary by edition and date, so this page does not claim that every “Vegas airport” clue has the same enumeration.
McCarran airport code and the Harry Reid name change
Searches for “McCarran airport code” still refer to the same main Las Vegas airport. The facility was officially renamed Harry Reid International Airport in December 2021. The IATA-style passenger code remained LAS, so old bookings, habits and web pages can still use “McCarran” without referring to a different airport.
McCarran International Airport
Former airport name. Older directions, hotel pages and traveler conversations may still use it.
Harry Reid International Airport
Current official airport name. Use LAS for ticket and baggage identification.
Six LAS details that prevent the most common airport mistakes
D gate does not tell you the terminal
D is a satellite concourse accessible from both terminal systems. Use the operating airline for T1/T3 check-in and baggage claim.
You cannot walk T1 ↔ T3 landside
The buildings are separate. Use the free inter-terminal shuttle; secure-side tram routing applies only after the appropriate checkpoint.
The Las Vegas Monorail does not serve LAS
Airport public transit is RTC bus service. Vegas Loop is a different service and is now listed by LAS as a to/from-airport option.
Uber/Lyft pickup is inside parking garages
T1 uses Garage Level 2; T3 uses the Valet Level. Do not wait for an app ride at the normal baggage-claim curb.
The Cell Phone Lot is not overnight
The free lot is currently published as 6 a.m.–1 a.m. Outside those hours, plan legal short-term parking or immediate curb loading.
Garage clearances vary by facility
T1 and T3 short-term, long-term, valet and passenger-pickup areas have different height limits. Check before entering with a tall van.
Build a practical LAS travel plan
These tools calculate planning guidance on your device. They do not replace the operating airline, live TSA page, Nevada taxi meter or airport parking system.
Gate-to-terminal helper
D gates are the key exception because both terminal systems can reach them.
Recommended terminal-arrival time
Parking daily-cap estimator
Pickup readiness checker
Strip taxi-zone helper
Use the hotel/resort location, then verify the state fare page. Zone fares can have additional regulated fees/tax/surcharges.
LAS Terminal 1 vs Terminal 3: where should you go?
Terminal 1 contains ticketing/check-in and baggage claim for airlines using A, B, C and D gate paths. Terminal 3 contains its own ticketing/check-in and baggage claim, all international airlines, selected domestic carriers, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and access to D/E gates.
Terminal 1 traveler map
- A/B/C gate check-in paths plus D-gate tram access.
- Rideshare: Parking Garage Level 2.
- Taxi: east side of baggage claim, Doors 1–4.
- Rental-car shuttle: Level 1 outside Doors 10–11.
- RTC routes 108, 109 and CX: Level Zero.
Terminal 3 traveler map
- International airlines plus selected domestic carriers.
- CBP international-arrivals processing.
- Rideshare: Parking Garage Valet Level.
- Taxi: Level Zero near Door 52.
- Centennial Express bus: Level 2 across from Door 44.
Current airline-change notice
The current airport banner states Sun Country check-in and baggage claim moved to Terminal 1, with A-gate arrivals/departures.
The airport states Spirit ceased LAS operations. Old airline lists may still show it.
Terminal 1 ↔ Terminal 3: shuttle or secure-side tram?
Free landside inter-terminal shuttle
LAS publishes an approximate 20–30 minute shuttle frequency and an approximately 10-minute ride. At T1, use Level 0 of the parking garage. At T3, use Level Zero and follow current Inter-Terminal/Ground Transportation signs.
Secure-side tram routing
From T1, the official route uses the C/D checkpoint, Blue Line to D gates, then Red Line to T3. From T3, clear security on Level 2, take Red Line to D, then Blue Line toward T1 when needed.
LAS TSA checkpoints, published hours and live wait-time planning
Harry Reid publishes current and hourly expected TSA wait estimates online, but explicitly warns that they fluctuate by the minute and should not be used as a reason to arrive later. The airport still advises roughly 2 hours before domestic and 3 hours before international departures.
| Checkpoint | Current published hours | Main use |
|---|---|---|
| A/B Gates | 3:15 a.m.–1:00 a.m. | Terminal 1 A/B access |
| C Gates (Southwest) | 3:05 a.m.–10:00 p.m. | C-gate access |
| C/D Gates | 24 hours | T1 C/D access; only checkpoint currently listed 24/7 |
| Terminal 3 Level 2 | 3:30 a.m.–1:30 a.m. | D and E gate access |
| Innovation Checkpoint — T3 Level Zero | 5:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m. | Pilot/innovation screening location |
Taxi, Uber/Lyft, RTC bus, Vegas Loop or rental car?
LAS is close to the resort corridor, but the best option depends on the hotel, traffic, party size, luggage and event schedule. The Las Vegas Monorail is not an airport train.
| Option | Best for | Airport detail |
|---|---|---|
| Taxi | Simple curb-to-resort ride | Official stands at both terminals; regulated Strip zone fares apply to qualifying destinations. |
| Uber / Lyft | App quote + vehicle tracking | Pickup inside T1/T3 parking garages; ordinary departure curb for drop-off. |
| RTC bus | Low-cost public transit | T1: 108, 109, CX. T3: CX. Some Strip trips require a transfer. |
| Vegas Loop | Current Loop destinations | LAS now lists Vegas Loop as a to/from-airport option; check current destinations and booking. |
| Rental car | Hoover Dam, Red Rock or regional driving | Vehicles are at the Rent-A-Car Center on Gilespie Street, not at the terminals. |
RTC airport bus stops that are easy to miss
- Terminal 1: Routes 108, 109 and Centennial Express (CX) use the Level Zero transit area.
- Terminal 3: CX uses the bus stop on Level 2 across from Door 44.
- Route 109: connects with the South Strip Transit Terminal, useful for onward Deuce connections.
- Use the live RTC trip planner for fares and schedules because service changes can make old blog timetables stale.
LAS parking rates, clearances, reservations and 15-minute grace rule
The June 22 airport release and its two-page PDF set the current July 1, 2026 rate structure. LAS has more than 17,000 public spaces; parking is open 24/7 but still subject to availability.
| Parking product | Current published rate | Planning use |
|---|---|---|
| Short Term | $4 first hour; $8 up to 2h; +$5 each additional hour; $38 daily max | Meet/pickup, short terminal visits |
| Long Term | $12 up to 2h; +$4 each additional hour; $20 daily max | Multi-day terminal parking |
| Economy / Remote | $6 up to 2h; +$2 each additional hour; $14 daily max | Lower-cost airport parking |
| Valet | $34/day | Highest convenience |
| T1 Reservation | $30/day | Reserved Terminal 1 inventory |
| T3 Reservation | $23/day | Reserved Terminal 3 inventory |
| T3 discounted reservation | Sat–Wed from $16/day; Thu–Fri $20/day | Limited reservation inventory |
Garage height clearances: do not use one number for all LAS parking
15-minute grace
For eligible terminal parking, drive directly to the exit and insert the ticket within the first 15 minutes. Do not use the walk-up pay station if you expect the grace exit.
30-day maximum
Standard long-term parking is capped at 30 days without advance notice. Current parking pages direct longer-stay requests to 702-261-5122.
Remote Lot
Remote parking is at 7150 Gilespie Street, across from the Rent-A-Car Center, with free terminal shuttles. Current guidance says credit cards only and no overnight oversize vehicles.
Terminal 3 east vs west parking trick
For an international arrival/departure at T3, the airport advises the east side marked with a “club” symbol to reduce walking. Domestic T3 parking uses the west side marked with a “diamond” symbol.
Cell Phone Lot, numbered pickup columns and curb rules
Cell Phone Lot
The free waiting lot is on Kitty Hawk Way and is currently published as open 6 a.m.–1 a.m. Wait there until the passenger has collected bags and can send the terminal and pickup column.
Passenger Pickup
Pickup areas are across from the terminals on Parking Garage Level 1. Numbered columns make it easier to coordinate an exact meeting point.
Meeting inside
Short-term parking is better for children, older travelers, first-time visitors or anyone needing assistance. Airport travel tips highlight the first 15 minutes as free when the grace-exit rules are followed.
LAS Rent-A-Car Center: shuttle stops, return and lost items
The consolidated Airport Rent-A-Car Center is at 7135 Gilespie Street, about three miles south of the terminals. Free airport shuttles connect T1 and T3; the rental-car fleet is not collected at the airline terminal curb.
Terminal 1 shuttle
From baggage claim, follow Ground Transportation to Level 1 and board outside Doors 10 and 11.
Terminal 3 shuttle
Follow Ground Transportation to Level Zero; rental-car shuttle stops are at both ends of the terminal.
Returning a rental car before a flight
- 1Drive to 7135 Gilespie Street
Do not navigate to the airline terminal as the rental return location.
- 2Follow your company return signs
Finish fuel/inspection/receipt steps before leaving the vehicle.
- 3Board the correct terminal shuttle
Verify T1 or T3 first; add shuttle and terminal walking time before the airline’s baggage cutoff.
Lost property at the rental facility
- Public lobby/curb area: 702-261-6001.
- Rental-car shuttle bus: 702-261-6630.
- Inside rental vehicle or agency garage: contact the rental company.
Watch LAS rental-car directions
The airport’s official rental-car page links a video showing how to reach the Rent-A-Car Center. Because complete stable video metadata such as exact upload date and duration could not be verified, this guide links the official video rather than inventing VideoObject schema.
Wheelchair, Sunflower, visual, ASL and cognitive-support help at LAS
Use the right provider for the need: the operating airline handles flight-related wheelchair/boarding assistance; LAS Passenger Services supports airport navigation; the airport’s accessibility programs support communication and non-visible disabilities.
Wheelchair assistance
Arrange in advance through the airline. For last-minute help at LAS, call 702-261-PUSH (7874) or dial 7874 from a white courtesy phone.
Hidden Disabilities Sunflower
LAS launched the program in April 2026. Lanyards are free at all airport Information Counters, have no eligibility requirement and can also be requested in advance for free mailing.
What the lanyard does not do
The Sunflower does not provide priority access or expedited TSA screening. It signals that a traveler may benefit from more time, patience or understanding.
Aira Explorer
Remote visual assistance helps blind or low-vision travelers understand surroundings and navigate the airport.
Aira ASL
On-demand video sign-language support can help Deaf and hard-of-hearing travelers communicate with airport staff.
MagnusCards
The free app offers step-by-step airport activity cards for travelers with autism or other cognitive support needs.
Visual paging
Available 24/7 on flight-information displays. Dial 0 on a white courtesy phone or call 702-261-5211.
ADA / Section 504
Airport ADA/504 Coordinator: 702-261-5770. Family-care restrooms are gender-neutral and accessible.
Nursing, water, lounges, pet relief, smoking and arrival essentials
Nursing + family care
Nursing suites and accessible family-care restrooms are available across LAS. Use the official map for the nearest location after you know the gate.
Reusable water bottles
LAS encourages travelers to bring an empty reusable bottle and use post-security refill stations. Empty liquids before screening.
Pet/service-animal relief
Indoor and outdoor relief areas are available. Check the map before a tight connection so you do not walk to the wrong end of the concourse.
Children’s play area
The airport lists a kids’ play area in the D-gates area, useful for longer connections after you verify boarding time.
Lounges
LAS currently has lounge options around C, D and E gate areas, including newer bank-card lounges. Admission and hours depend on the operator; verify before changing concourses.
Terminal 3 arrival essentials
Recent airport information highlights LV Provisions in T3 baggage claim for water, snacks, travel-size personal-care items, chargers, adapters and SIM products—useful before leaving the airport.
Smoking and vaping: use only designated areas
LAS does not permit smoking/vaping throughout the terminals. Official amenity guidance lists designated outdoor locations and enclosed smoking/gaming areas, including Barneys Lounge at C Gates, Bud 29 Track Lounge in the T1 Esplanade and enclosed gaming lounges in B/C/D/E gate areas.
LAS Lost and Found: airport, aircraft, baggage, taxi and rental-car items
Start with the place the item was last seen. Airport Lost & Found does not handle every travel-related loss.
| Where lost | Correct handler | Best next action |
|---|---|---|
| Public terminal, checkpoint or gate area | LAS Lost & Found | Submit the free online report; items may take more than 24 hours to arrive. |
| On an aircraft | Operating airline | Use the airline’s lost-item process. |
| Checked baggage missing/damaged | Operating airline | Report at airline baggage service. |
| Taxi | Taxi company / Nevada Taxicab Authority | Use receipt/company/vehicle details. |
| Rental center public area | Rent-A-Car Center | Call 702-261-6001. |
| Rental shuttle | Airport rental shuttle | Call 702-261-6630. |
| Inside rental vehicle | Rental agency | Contact the rental company. |
Terminal 1 office
Pre-security, Level 2, above ticketing/check-in.
Terminal 3 office
Level 2 near international check-in, across from Door 47.
LAS also lists categories it does not accept into storage, including perishable food/drink, water bottles, tobacco/cannabis/vaping items, hazardous materials and weapons. Do not expect every object left behind to enter Lost & Found inventory.
International arrival and onward connection at Terminal 3
Terminal 3 contains U.S. Customs and Border Protection facilities. The exact entry path depends on citizenship, documents, trusted-traveler eligibility and whether the origin airport had U.S. preclearance.
- 1Follow federal-inspection signs
Keep passport and entry documents accessible until inspection is complete.
- 2Complete immigration/entry processing
Use only a lane or trusted-traveler process for which you are eligible.
- 3Collect checked baggage when instructed
Follow CBP/airline directions before leaving the controlled area.
- 4Recheck/clear TSA if your connection requires it
Confirm with the operating airline whether bags must be rechecked and whether the onward gate requires another security screening.
From aircraft door to the Strip: a simple arrival sequence
Major events, desert heat, road closures and late-night arrivals
Normal map times can become unreliable during conventions, stadium events, Formula 1-related closures, holiday weekends and Strip construction. Airport operations can be normal while resort-corridor ground traffic is not.
Before leaving the hotel
Check airline status, TSA estimates and road/transit conditions separately. Add extra time for large events.
Extreme heat
Refill water after security and minimize outdoor waiting. Garage/rideshare wayfinding is preferable to standing at an incorrect curb in summer heat.
After 1 a.m.
The Cell Phone Lot is currently closed after 1 a.m. Use legal short-term parking or immediate-loading pickup instead.
