The most important CLT map fact is structural: all five concourses connect inside one terminal. A normal flight connection does not require a people mover, train or landside shuttle.
Concourse A
Concourse A includes older and expanded gate areas. It also contains several high-value services near the A Connector and upper-level areas.
Concourse B
Concourse B is a compact spoke off the Atrium and includes an American Admirals Club near B5.
Concourse C
Concourse C branches from the central terminal area and is fully walkable from every other concourse after security.
Concourse D

How to read the CLT terminal map before a tight connection

The central route runs through the A/B Connector, Atrium, D/E Connector and The Plaza; the A Connector branches toward the newer A gate areas. How to connect between CLT gates without a tram
Domestic to domestic
Stay inside security and follow signs through the Atrium/connectors to the next concourse. No inter-terminal train or shuttle is needed.
Long A ↔ E or remote-gate walks
CLT can be a long walk from one end to the other. Search both gate numbers on the official interactive map to get an estimated route rather than guessing by concourse letters alone.
Separate tickets
Separate-ticket travelers may have to claim and recheck baggage and can lose missed-flight protection. Confirm through-checking with both airlines before treating the connection like a protected itinerary.
Wheelchair or mobility assistance
Request assistance from the operating airline in advance and specify that support is needed through the connection, not only at departure or arrival.
CLT security checkpoints, PreCheck and arrival-time planning
CLT advises reaching the terminal about two hours before domestic departures and three hours before international departures. The airport also recommends reaching your parking facility roughly 30 minutes before the time you want to be inside the terminal when peak parking/shuttle conditions apply.

Consolidated lanes
CLT’s previous five-checkpoint configuration was consolidated into three larger numbered checkpoints with 21 screening lanes.
2026 e-Gate / Touchless ID trial
CLT and TSA tested eight e-Gates at Checkpoint 2 during summer 2026 for eligible PreCheck and Touchless ID travelers. The published assessment ran through July, so treat availability as operational and follow current checkpoint signage.
Late-night warning
Passengers cannot remain beyond the security checkpoints once all checkpoints have closed. Airline counters and security have separate hours.
CBP, baggage, Global Entry and Mobile Passport at CLT
International arrivals that have not completed U.S. preclearance must complete CBP processing before entering the domestic terminal system. The exact sequence can vary with flight and facility instructions, so follow CBP/airline signage rather than assuming a domestic connection flow.
Passport / CBP inspection
Keep passport and required travel documents accessible. Eligible travelers can use Global Entry or Mobile Passport Control where available.
Checked baggage and customs

CATS Sprinter, taxis, rideshare and rental cars
CATS Sprinter Airport Connector
The Sprinter links CLT with Charlotte Transportation Center in Uptown. The current fare is $2.50 per ride. CATS publishes 30-minute weekday frequency, with service extending past midnight; Saturday and Sunday schedules differ, so check the live timetable before a late arrival.
CATS Route 60 to Tyvola Blue Line
Route 60 links the airport with Tyvola light-rail station and generally operates every 30 minutes seven days a week. Verify the last trip before a late arrival.
Authorized taxi
Taxi pickup is on the Arrivals/Baggage Claim outer curb in Zone 1, primarily 5 a.m.–midnight. Current published fares include $32 flat to Uptown within the I-277 loop, $16 within a 3-mile radius, plus a $2.50 airport fee; other trips may be metered.
Uber and Lyft
Ride-app pickup is on the upper Departures/Ticketing level, inner lanes, Zones 1–3. This differs from older results that direct arriving passengers to baggage claim.
Rental cars in the Hourly Deck
Rental companies are in the Level 2 lobby of the Hourly Deck in front of the terminal. From baggage claim, use the lower-level walkway and elevators. After returning a car, reach the terminal by Level 5 skybridge or Level 1 lower walkway.

Hourly Deck details
Passenger spaces are on Levels 4–7. EV charging is published on Levels 4, 5 and 6. Level 5 bridges and Level 1 lower walkways connect the deck to the terminal.
Booking is not the same as “full”
A lot marked “Reservation Only” means drive-up inventory is full while travelers with existing online bookings can still enter. Same-day online booking can be limited; Valet bookings require at least three hours’ advance notice.
24-hour shuttle reality
Parking shuttles operate 24/7 and normally circulate every 10–15 minutes, but CLT publishes reduced bus operations from 11 p.m.–4 a.m. Call 704-359-4038 after 11 p.m. if a shuttle is not visible.

Private-car drop-off
Upper Departures/Ticketing outer lanes are standard for drop-off. During congestion, CLT specifically suggests “going against the grain” and using Arrivals for drop-off when practical.
Private-car pickup
Use lower Arrivals/Baggage Claim for normal pickup. Wait until the traveler has bags; do not circle or stop on roadway shoulders.
Cell Phone Lot
The lot is free and sits off Josh Birmingham Parkway beside Long Term Lot 1. Drivers must stay with their vehicles.

Use the Hourly Deck, levels 4–7. Level 5 skybridges and Level 1 underground walkways connect the deck with the terminal without crossing the roadway.

At CLT, flight-related wheelchair service is managed by the operating airline, while the airport provides accessible infrastructure, language/visual-assistance programs and accessible ground transportation. Request the exact help you need rather than assuming a generic “special assistance” note covers a connection.
Know the correct Departures door
CLT strongly recommends notifying the airline at least 24 hours before travel. American Airlines wheelchair/disability assistance is at Door 4 on Departures/Ticketing; all other airlines use Doors 1–3. Wheelchair transport is prioritized by flight departure time, not the time you arrived at the airport.
CLT does not operate motorized passenger carts
The airport cites concourse size and heavy foot traffic. Travelers who cannot manage the walk should request airline wheelchair/escort service; elevators, escalators and moving walkways can help but are not a substitute for needed assistance.
Aira is free and unlimited on airport property
The Aira app connects a traveler’s smartphone camera with a trained visual interpreter for navigation, signs and surroundings. CLT says the service is free and unlimited while on airport property, including before reaching the terminal.

Hidden Disabilities Sunflower: no proof or documentation required
The Sunflower is an awareness signal, not an automatic fast-track or blanket accommodation. CLT says there are no prerequisites, no disability documentation is required, and staff should not ask what the disability is. Ask separately for any specific airline, TSA or airport accommodation you need.
