Terminal 1, Concourse or Terminal 2: what your gate number means
At ICN, the terminal on an old blog post is less useful than the operating airline + live gate. Current airport guidance groups major carriers as below, but codeshares and operational moves can still change the actual check-in terminal.

Which ICN airlines currently support self check-in or bag drop?
Incheon Airport lists self-service support by terminal, generally available up to one hour before departure, but restrictions can apply for visa-required destinations, codeshares, passengers with infants and other special handling.

Smart Pass at ICN: what it speeds up—and what it does not replace
Smart Pass is Incheon Airport’s facial-recognition passenger service. After registering passport, face and boarding information, an eligible traveler can use dedicated biometric lanes at the departure hall. It can reduce repeated document handling, but it does not replace your passport, airline check-in, immigration status or Korea’s separate Smart Entry immigration program.
Face registration lasts up to five years
The airport says facial ID can be registered once and used for five years. Renewing/replacing the passport requires ID information to be registered again.
Departure-hall lanes are airline-neutral
Any Smart Pass-registered passenger can use the dedicated departure-hall lanes regardless of airline. Gate and self-bag-drop use is more limited and depends on participating airlines/gates.
Age rule
Smart Pass is available from age 7. Parental consent is required for travelers under 14.

How to depart from ICN without losing time at the wrong step
Smart Security at ICN: live congestion, electronics, liquids and batteries
Incheon combines a live departure-congestion page with Smart Security Screening zones in both terminals. The useful takeaway is not “security is always fast”: it is that you can check current congestion and, when airport staff/signage permit, use another nearby departure hall if your designated hall is crowded.
Laptops and tablets
The current airport screening guide says laptops and tablets do not need to be removed into a separate tray in T1/T2 departure halls. Put bags, jackets, phones, keys and other loose items in the tray as directed.
International-flight liquids
Standard guidance uses containers of 100 ml or less inside one transparent 1-liter resealable bag per passenger, subject to security and medical/infant exceptions.
Spare lithium batteries
For 100–160 Wh spare batteries, airline approval is required and airport guidance limits passengers to two. Batteries above 160 Wh are not permitted under the cited passenger rule.
E-cigarettes
Carry e-cigarettes in cabin baggage rather than checked baggage. The airline and destination country can impose stricter requirements.
Identity check
Security may ask you to temporarily remove a mask, hat or sunglasses for identity verification. Keep passport and boarding pass readily accessible.
Declare before screening when required
If you are carrying items that must be declared to Korean Customs on departure, complete that declaration before entering security.
ICN transfer: Terminal 1, Concourse and Terminal 2
Do not leave immigration/customs by habit when you are a through-connecting passenger. Follow the green Transfer signs. Transfer routes can include security screening, a transfer desk and the airport shuttle train.
Same-terminal transfer
Follow Transfer signs to the security screening route when required, then proceed to the departure level/gate. A new boarding pass may be available at a transfer desk if your airline supports it.
Concourse connection
The Concourse is reached by B1 shuttle train. Official transfer pages list trains about every 5 minutes; verify the onward gate first because the transfer route warns that you cannot simply return after boarding.
T1 ↔ T2 airside transfer
Follow Transfer signs, pass transfer security as directed and use the shuttle-train route. Build more buffer than a same-terminal connection.
Free T1 ↔ T2 shuttle bus: stops and hours
The public-side inter-terminal bus is different from the airside shuttle train. Use it when you are landside or have arrived at the wrong terminal before check-in.

Can you leave Incheon Airport during a layover?
Leaving the secure transfer area means you must be legally able to enter Korea and return through departure formalities. For eligible passengers, Incheon also operates official Transit Tours, which are more structured than improvising a Seoul trip on a short connection.
- Your total layover is 24 hours or less.
- You can enter Korea under your passport/visa/K-ETA status.
- You have both arrival and onward boarding passes.
- You can reach the registration desk at least 30 minutes before the tour.
- Your entry eligibility is uncertain.
- Your connection is tight or bags/tickets are complicated.
- You would need to enter Korea twice during the same visit.
- Weather, immigration queues or transport make the return buffer unsafe.
e-Arrival Card, K-ETA, visa and immigration: keep them separate
Entry requirements depend on your passport, visa status and purpose of travel. The safest workflow is to use the official government eligibility tools rather than a blog’s nationality list.
e-Arrival Card
The official Korean e-Arrival Card is free and can be completed within 3 days before arrival when required. The site includes a Navigator for visa/K-ETA/residence-card status.
K-ETA
For travelers who actually require K-ETA, the official site currently lists a KRW 10,000 fee and says assessment is generally within 72 hours. Temporary exemptions exist for eligible travelers; check the current notice.
Visa / residence status
A valid visa or residence status can change which electronic declaration/authorization is required. Do not pay a third-party “expedited” site without checking the official government portal.

The Republic of Korea Ministry of Justice e-Arrival Card portal includes an English video guide explaining the electronic arrival declaration. It is useful for first-time visitors because it sits beside the official declaration steps and eligibility Navigator.
Schema integrity: the official page verifies that the English video exists, but the exact public embed ID, thumbnail URL and duration were not reliably exposed during this audit. The page therefore links to the official video host and does not invent VideoObject metadata.

For a normal international arrival that enters Korea, the practical sequence is predictable even though queues vary. Concourse arrivals first use the airport shuttle train to the passenger terminal; then travelers complete immigration, collect baggage and clear Customs before meeting a driver or boarding ground transport.
Customs limits that are easy to miss
General duty-free allowance
The airport’s current Customs guide lists a general hand-carried duty-free allowance of USD 800, with separate limits for alcohol, tobacco and perfume.
Separate controlled allowances
The cited guide separately lists alcohol totaling up to 2 liters and USD 400 or less, 200 cigarettes and 100 ml of perfume. Rules can change; check Customs before purchase.
Mobile customs declaration
Travelers with declarable goods can use Korea Customs’ traveler declaration app/website as an alternative to completing the form only after landing.
AREX Express, All-Stop train, airport bus or taxi?
AREX Express to Seoul Station
Best for a simple airport-to-Seoul Station trip. Current AREX passenger terms list adult Express fares of KRW 18,100 from T1 and KRW 18,700 from T2. Typical published running time is about 43 minutes from T1 and about 51 minutes from T2 to Seoul Station.
AREX All-Stop train
Better when your destination is Hongik University (Hongdae), Gongdeok or another station on the AREX line. It takes longer than Express service but can eliminate a Seoul Station backtrack. Current adult Seoul Station fares are lower than Express; verify the official fare page before purchase.
Airport limousine / regional bus
Often better for a hotel or neighborhood not convenient to AREX. T1 sells airport-bus tickets around the 1F exits including areas near exits 4 and 9; T2’s main bus terminal is in the B1 Transportation Center. The airport advises allowing 1–2 hours for immigration when choosing a post-arrival bus departure.
Late-night bus
When rail service no longer fits your arrival, ICN publishes dedicated late-night Seoul/Gyeonggi bus pages for both terminals. Do not assume a daytime route continues overnight.
Official taxi
Use designated stands and ignore unsolicited ride offers. Current airport guidance lists standard taxi pickup around T1 5C/6C/6D and T2 7C, with a Seoul standard-taxi base fare of KRW 4,800 before distance/time charges and possible night surcharges.
Call van / larger-luggage service
Official call-van counters are currently listed T1 near entrances 12–13 and T2 near entrance 7, with pickup at T1 10C and T2 8D. Operating hours are listed 08:00–21:00.
Luggage storage and same-day delivery options
If you do not want to carry bags into Seoul, Incheon publishes airport/metro-linked services rather than requiring you to improvise with station lockers.
T-Luggage / Seoul Metro
Same-day luggage delivery can connect participating subway service points with the airport. Airport-side registration uses Hanjin Express counters.
Hanjin Express at ICN
Current airport guidance lists T1 counters on 1F east/west and 3F near B/N check-in; T2 has a 3F counter near H and a B1 east-end location. Hours vary by counter.
Easy Drop before the airport
Eligible passengers can use designated off-airport check-in/bag-drop locations. T1 service closes 3h30 before departure and T2 4h before departure; route/airline restrictions apply.
Incheon Airport parking: short-term, long-term, reserved and valet
The airport explicitly recommends long-term parking for stays longer than one day. Use the live parking-congestion pages before driving because T1/T2 capacity can fill unevenly.

Reserve 4 hours–45 days ahead
Airport reservation guidance allows booking from at least four hours before arrival to as far as 45 days ahead, for stays of at least one day and up to 30 days. The current T1 reserved-parking guide allows entry from 2 hours before to 4 hours after the reserved arrival time; use your confirmation for the exact terminal rule.
Parking peak windows
Official live-parking pages flag approximately 05:00–08:00 and 16:00–19:00 as daily peak periods.
Discounts are eligibility-based
Korean legal/administrative eligibility can provide discounts for compact, certain disability/merit, multi-child and low-emission vehicles. Foreign travelers should not assume eligibility.
Meeting an arriving passenger at ICN
Arrival is not the same as curb-ready. International passengers may need immigration, baggage claim, customs and a long walk before reaching the public hall.
Terminal 1 arrivals
The public arrival level is 1F with Arrival Hall zones A–F. Ask the passenger to send the terminal plus the visible arrival-exit letter after clearing formalities. The official live arrival table also publishes baggage-claim and arrival-exit fields.
Terminal 2 arrivals
The public arrival level is 1F with Arrival Hall zones A–B. Confirm the specific exit before entering pickup traffic.
Bus booking after landing
ICN advises allowing one to two hours for immigration when selecting a post-arrival airport-bus departure. That buffer is especially useful for first-time or checked-bag arrivals.
Wheelchair, mobility and special-assistance help at Incheon
Airline assistance and airport-facility assistance are different. Request boarding/wheelchair handling from the operating airline, then use ICN’s airport assistance for terminal navigation and ground mobility.
T1 assistance centers
Post-security Special Assistance points are listed near Gates 25 and 29, generally 07:00–21:00. T1 also has a Safe Travel Center for the Disabled near exits 7–8 on 3F, currently 07:00–19:00.
T2 assistance
A Special Assistance facility is listed in the west-side transfer lounge on 3F, generally 07:00–21:00. Information desks are available both public-side and airside.
Free lift car
Wheelchair users can request a free lift-car service for long-term-parking/terminal mobility at 032-741-3217. The dedicated accessibility page currently lists 05:00–22:00 and about 20 minutes estimated response time; a shuttle-route page still displays 05:00–24:00, so confirm same-day hours when timing is critical.

Strollers, nursing rooms, Kids Zones and pet rules at ICN
Families do not need to carry every airport item from home. Incheon provides free stroller lending at information desks plus baby-care rooms and Kids Zones throughout T1, T2 and the Concourse. Exact locations are best chosen from your live gate so you do not make a long detour.

The airport lists stroller lending at information desks. Ask after reaching your terminal; return/usage instructions come from the desk.
T1 family examples
Current facility guidance includes Kids Zones around Gates 9, 14, 41 and 45, plus baby/nursing rooms around arrival and gate areas such as 25, 29 and 45.
T2 family examples
Kids/family facilities are distributed near gates including 231, 242, 246, 254, 257 and 268, with additional baby rooms in public and transportation-center areas.
Traveling through the terminal with a pet
Showers, NAP Zones, transit hotels, capsule hotels and lounges
ICN has unusually strong rest infrastructure, but airside and landside are not interchangeable. A transit hotel beyond security may be unusable if your itinerary requires entering Korea, while a landside capsule hotel may require immigration eligibility.

Charging devices and exchanging currency without crossing the airport
ICN distributes power and financial services across the passenger complex, so the best option is usually the nearest facility in your current terminal/security zone rather than walking to a famous counter from an old guide.
Free device charging
The airport lists charging towers in public areas and charging chairs in duty-free areas, with 110V, 220V and USB charging available around check-in/departure floors, arrivals and the Concourse.
24-hour currency examples in T1
Current facility listings include a 24-hour KB Bank currency exchange near Arrival Hall B on 1F and a 24-hour Woori exchange near Departure Hall 4 on 3F in Terminal 1.
T2 exchange desks
Multiple T2 currency counters are listed around 05:00/06:00–20:00/22:00 depending on bank/location. Do not assume T1’s 24-hour counter pattern applies to T2.
Lost baggage and Lost & Found: use the correct agency
One number does not handle everything. The correct contact depends on whether the item was in a public terminal, on the aircraft, inside customs, or on the train/bus.

IIAC’s official publications catalog lists the 2025 corporate brochure “Byond an Airport, Changing the World.” Its download is roughly 36.9 MB and is a corporate/promotional publication. It can document the airport organization and development story, but it is not a safe source for today’s airline terminal, queue, bus, parking or facility-hour decisions.
