CVG airport code: Cincinnati’s airport is in Kentucky—and that explains the code
Identify the right airport, understand why the code is CVG, check Eastern Time, find Concourses A and B, plan security, parking, pickup, rideshare, TANK transit and accessibility without relying on outdated terminal guides.
What airport is CVG, and where did the CVG code come from?
CVG is the IATA code and FAA location identifier for Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. The aviation ICAO identifier is KCVG. Passenger tickets, baggage tags and airline searches normally use CVG; pilots, dispatchers and aviation-weather systems more often use KCVG.
The commonly documented origin of CVG is Covington, Kentucky, the major nearby Northern Kentucky city associated with the airport when commercial service began. That history explains why the code is not “CIN.” The modern passenger terminal itself is in Hebron, Kentucky.
Airport live checks & travel tools
Use current local conditions, official live-status links and planning calculators before you travel. Airline gate, terminal and flight times can change; your carrier remains the final source for flight-specific details.
Live flight center
Check the airport's official flight board, then confirm any last-minute gate or timing change with the airline.
Current airport-area weather
Useful for planning your trip to the airport. This is model-based local weather, not an aviation METAR or an airline operational forecast.
Quick official checks
Open the source that matches the decision you are making right now.
When should I reach the airport?
A planning estimate based on flight type and common time buffers. Always increase the buffer for severe weather, major holidays, unusual airport alerts or airline instructions.
Connection-risk checker
This is a planning heuristic, not an airline minimum-connection-time rule. International arrivals that require U.S. entry processing, baggage claim and security can need substantially more time.
Parking cost estimator
Uses the airport-specific rates stored in this article's configuration. Rates can change; verify availability and final pricing on the official parking page before driving in.
Passenger pickup readiness
Landing time is not curb-ready time. Add time for taxiing, deplaning, baggage claim, customs when applicable and walking to the correct pickup zone.
IATA / FAA
CVG — the code most travelers use.
ICAO
KCVG — the four-letter U.S. aviation identifier.
Serves
Cincinnati metro and the broader Ohio–Kentucky–Indiana region.
Physical terminal
Hebron, Kentucky, United States.
Why “Cincinnati Airport” is physically in Hebron, Kentucky
CVG’s passenger terminal address is 3087 Terminal Dr, Hebron, KY 41048. The airport says it is about 13 miles south of downtown Cincinnati in Northern Kentucky. So a ticket can correctly say Cincinnati while your rental-car receipt, GPS and hotel shuttle say Kentucky.
Use this for navigation
3087 Terminal Dr, Hebron, KY 41048. Search “CVG Airport” or the full official airport name rather than “Cincinnati airport” alone.
Why FAA says Covington
FAA aerodrome data associates CVG with Covington and places the reference point about eight miles southwest of Covington. This is aviation-reference geography, not the current passenger terminal street address.
Do not confuse mailing and physical addresses
CVG’s administrative mailing address uses Cincinnati, Ohio. For driving, pickups and rental returns, use the Hebron, Kentucky terminal address.
What time is it at CVG Airport?
Live CVG local time
Loading Eastern Time…
CVG uses the same clock as Cincinnati and New York: Eastern Time.
EDT vs EST
Eastern Daylight Time is UTC−4 during daylight-saving months; Eastern Standard Time is UTC−5 in standard time. The live clock on this page uses the browser’s America/New_York time-zone database so it changes automatically.
Codes, city, country, time zone, terminal and current route scale
If you only need the facts needed to book, navigate or meet someone, use this snapshot. The route count is time-sensitive; terminal identity and codes are comparatively stable.

CVG Terminal and Concourses A/B: exact walking, train and baggage-claim logic
CVG uses one passenger Terminal. All airline ticketing and checked-bag acceptance happens on the Ticketing level. After the central TSA checkpoint, you descend into the Transportation Tunnel, where you can use the train, moving walkways or walk to Concourses A and B.
| Area | Current layout | Useful distance / time |
|---|---|---|
| Ticketing — right from main entrance | American, United, Air Canada, Sun Country, Viva Aerobus, Southwest, Alaska, Breeze, Allegiant and scheduled charters in current CVG directions | Furthest listed counter is under 250 ft from entrance center. |
| Ticketing — left from main entrance | Delta, British Airways and Frontier in current directions | Furthest listed counter is under 225 ft. |
| Ticketing to security | Pedestrian bridge to central checkpoint | Bridge-to-security entrance is under 200 ft. |
| Concourse A | Gates A4–A23 | About 2 min by train to Terminal; walking is under 750 ft / about 3 min. |
| Concourse B | B1–B28; B1–B12 one direction, B13–B28 the other from the hub | About 4 min by train to Terminal; walking is under 1,500 ft / about 6 min. |
| Baggage Claim | Carousels 1–2 left of central monitors; 3–4 right; oversized near Carousel 1 | Restrooms are under 75 ft from central hub; Ground Transport can be under 850 ft from Carousel 1. |
After baggage claim: choose the correct exit before you start walking
Private pickup
Use the front exits and the outer curb for regular passenger pickup. The curb is for active loading—not waiting.
Ground Transport East
Rideshare, taxi, TANK public transit, shared-ride vans, limos and charter buses.
Ground Transport West
Rental Car Center, hotel shuttles, ValuPark/Economy shuttles, off-airport parking and CVG Valet.
Elevate CVG: what 2026 terminal work means for passengers
Elevate CVG is the airport’s active multiyear terminal-modernization program. CVG says travelers will see renovated restrooms, more space for movement and refreshed passenger spaces, while behind-the-scenes operating systems are also being replaced or upgraded.
Expect temporary routing changes
Construction barriers, work zones and pedestrian paths may shift. Follow same-day airport signs even when they differ from an older screenshot or travel blog.
Do not confuse it with the 2050 Master Plan
Elevate CVG is an active terminal program. The 2050 Master Plan is long-range planning context for future facilities and campus development.
Keep a little walking margin
If you need wheelchair help, have small children or are meeting a tight connection, a few extra minutes protects against temporary detours.

CVG TSA hours, arrival time, PreCheck Touchless ID and ConfirmID
| Item | Current guidance | What traveler should do |
|---|---|---|
| Security checkpoint | Normally 3:30 a.m.–9:20 p.m. daily | Verify same-day near opening/closing; CVG says hours may change without notice. |
| Screening buffer | CVG says allow at least 30 min for screening | That is not the whole airport-arrival buffer—ticketing, bags and walking come first. |
| Airport arrival | At least 2 hours before scheduled departure | CVG travel guidance uses about 3 hours for international departures; airline rules override. |
| TSA PreCheck Touchless ID | Available for eligible enrolled travelers on participating airlines | Confirm eligibility in your airline/TSA profile; it is not automatic for every PreCheck traveler. |
| TSA ConfirmID | From Feb. 1, 2026 for travelers who do not present acceptable ID, including non-REAL-ID-compliant state ID | Expect extra identity-verification time; bring acceptable ID whenever possible. |
| TSA Cares | 855-787-2227 | Contact ahead when screening assistance is needed; TSA commonly recommends about 72 hours. |
What “International” means at CVG—and what happens on arrival
CVG supports scheduled international passenger service, but the code itself does not tell you the customs process. International arrivals follow U.S. Customs and Border Protection procedures and CVG’s secure routing.
Processing-area privacy
CVG’s step-by-step guide says cameras, cell phones and recording devices are not permitted in the international processing area until you are cleared.
Rescreening
The same guide states arriving international customers complete TSA screening before entering the concourse used by departing domestic flights.
Liquids after arrival
Liquids over 3.4 oz must go into checked luggage before TSA rescreening when the process applies. Follow CBP/TSA directions for duty-free items.
CVG parking rates, reservations, EV charging and the hidden booking details
CVG-owned parking facilities are open 24/7 and currently credit-card only. The current drive-up daily rates below are useful for comparison; online reservation quotes can differ by dates and availability.
| Option | Published rate | Best fit | Operational detail |
|---|---|---|---|
| CVG Valet | $35/day | Fastest vehicle handoff | Baggage Claim level / Ground Transport West; open 24/7. |
| Premium Reserved Garage | $27/day | Guaranteed close-in space | Level C, Rows 28–30; prepaid reservation only. |
| Terminal Garage | $23/day | Walk to Terminal | Adjacent to passenger Terminal. |
| ValuPark | $12/day | Lower cost + frequent shuttle | Continuous pickup/drop-off and luggage assistance. |
| Economy Lot | $10/day | Lowest on-airport daily rate | Shelter pickup; shuttles currently about every 15 min. |
| Cell Phone Lot | Free | Waiting for an arriving passenger | Not trip parking; leave once passenger is curb-ready. |
If you reserve online, know these rules before paying
$1.99 booking fee
CVG’s online booking terms say the quoted purchase price includes a $1.99 booking fee.
Use the confirmation QR code
The reservation confirmation includes a QR code used for entry and exit. Go to the facility named in the reservation before assuming the code is broken.
Cancellation/edit window
The current booking FAQ says you can edit or cancel up to 2 hours before the booked start time. Later cancellation may not be refunded.
Overstay costs extra
If you exit after the reserved end time, additional parking charges are due by credit card at exit.
A reservation protects facility access
If the facility shows full/closed to drive-up customers, CVG says a valid reservation still reserves access for the booked stay.
Shuttle tracking
CVG links BusGenius for ValuPark and Economy shuttle tracking; use it instead of guessing shelter wait time.
EV charging is slow Level 1—not a fast charger
The current parking page lists 8 stations in Terminal Garage Level D, Row 30 and 4 in ValuPark Row 1. They are 120V / 20A Level 1 chargers, first-come, not individually reservable, and the parking FAQ says a full charge can take about eight hours. There are currently no chargers in Economy Lot.
CVG pickup: outer curb, Cell Phone Lot, Meeting Point or rideshare?
Private-car curb
Regular passenger pickup uses the outer curb. Use it only when the traveler is physically ready for loading.
Cell Phone Lot
Free waiting area at 3401 Loomis Rd, Hebron, KY 41048. Wait here instead of circling the terminal.
Meeting Point
The lower Terminal level is the better choice if you want to park and greet someone indoors before they head toward baggage claim.
Uber / Lyft
Use Ground Transport East, not the regular private-car curb. Follow current app and airport signage.
Cell Phone Lot exit sequence
CVG’s current directions say to exit the lot toward Hotel Drive, turn right onto Terminal Drive, then follow Baggage Claim signs. The airport also warns that development activity around the Global Logistics Park can affect the lot entrance/exit area, so use extra caution.
Ground Transport East vs West: the CVG rule worth memorizing
CVG’s transportation center is easier when you decide East or West before following signs from baggage claim.
| Need | Go to | Useful current detail |
|---|---|---|
| Uber / Lyft | Ground Transport East | Not the regular Terminal curbfront. |
| zTrip taxi | Ground Transport East | 513-962-1122. |
| Executive Transportation shared ride | Baggage Claim desk near Carousels 3–4 / GT system | Walk-ups welcome; 859-261-8841. |
| TANK Route 2X | Ground Transport East | Follow Public Transit signs. |
| Private van / car / limousine | Ground Transport East | Prearrange late-night arrivals when possible. |
| Hotel shuttle | Ground Transport West | Confirm hotel’s operating hours directly. |
| ValuPark / Economy shuttle | Ground Transport West | Airport-owned parking shuttle zone. |
| Rental cars | Ground Transport West | Connected Rental Car Center; no shuttle needed. |
Need a wheelchair-accessible commercial ride?
CVG’s current authorized-operator list includes Executive Transportation (859-261-8841), Express Mobile ADA (859-655-4600), Ride A WAV Cincy (859-918-9900) and zTrip (513-962-1122). The airport recommends contacting an accessible provider in advance rather than relying on a walk-up vehicle.
TANK Route 2X Airporter: fare, payment, pickup and schedule reality
The TANK 2X Airporter connects CVG with Cincinnati. At the airport, follow signs from Baggage Claim to Ground Transport East → Public Transit. The current timetable shows roughly 30-minute service through much of the day, but road projects and detours can change stops.
Current local cash fare
$2. Have exact fare; buses do not give cash change.
Mobile payment
Use Transit with EZFare to plan, track and pay from a phone.
Frequency
Current 2X schedule is around 30 minutes for much of the service day.
Current alert
TANK is displaying a Brent Spence Corridor Project service alert; verify downtown stops before boarding.
Tap & Save can matter if you will keep using TANK after the airport ride
TANK’s current account-based Tap & Save program automatically caps fixed-route spending at $4 per day or $70 per month when you pay through a funded Transit/EZFare account or registered EZFare smart card. Once the cap is reached, additional eligible fixed-route rides in that period are free. This is different from simply paying the $2 cash fare for one airport trip.
Cash is still accepted onboard, and TANK’s published local cash fare is $2; exact fare is required because the farebox does not make change. The regular fare page also lists a $4 TANK day pass and a $5 Metro/TANK day pass. Choose the payment method based on how much transit you will actually use after reaching Cincinnati.
CVG rental cars are connected to the Terminal—do not wait for a shuttle
CVG’s Rental Car Center is physically connected to the passenger Terminal. After collecting baggage, follow signs to Ground Transport West and continue to the Rental Car Center. The current rental-center address is 3057 Terminal Drive, Hebron, KY 41048.
If you just landed
Collect bags first, follow Ground Transport West, then follow the rental company’s counter/garage directions in your reservation. There is no airport rental-car shuttle step.
If you are a local renter and not flying
CVG says there is no personal-vehicle parking at the Rental Car Center. Use an airport parking option first, then walk or shuttle to Ground Transport West based on that facility.
CVG accessibility: GoodMaps, Aira, ASL, Sunflower and wheelchair help
Use the right service for the right stage: the airline handles boarding and aircraft-related wheelchair assistance; TSA Cares supports screening; CVG provides airport navigation, communication and facility-access resources.
GoodMaps indoor navigation
Turn-by-turn indoor guidance can provide audio directions, visual routing and step-free paths across the Terminal and concourses.
Aira visual interpretation
CVG lists Aira for blind/low-vision travelers who want professional visual interpretation while navigating airport tasks.
ASL and language support
Information booths have interpreter access; CVG also lists Signapse, Aira ASL Connect and a process for requesting in-person ASL interpretation.
Hidden Disabilities Sunflower
Lanyards can be requested through CVG Customer Experience / the Baggage Claim information booth. The symbol requests patience; it is not a security fast pass.
Wheelchair before travel
Contact the operating airline in advance and describe whether you need curb-to-counter, gate transfer, boarding or aircraft-seat assistance.
Wheelchair after arriving at CVG
If you are already at the airport, Bags, Inc. provides no-cost wheelchair assistance at 513-607-3218. It is based on the first floor of the Rental Car Center and can meet you on any Terminal/Rental Center level.
Exact accessible facilities worth knowing
| Facility | Location / detail | Why it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Family-assist restrooms | Near A11, B11 and B13 | Accessible caregiver space after security. |
| Adult changing table | Family-assist restroom at B13 | Supports older children/adults needing changing assistance. |
| Service-animal relief | Near A18 and B13; outdoor area near Baggage Claim / GT East | Using the outdoor area before a departure means passing TSA again. |
| Departure curb to ticket counter | About 175 ft in CVG accessibility guidance | Helpful when planning slow walking or wheelchair support. |
| Elevators | Accessible elevator controls include Braille/raised numbers and emergency-call capability | Alternative to escalators across the three-level Terminal. |
| Luggage carts | Free carts at Terminal Garage, Ticketing, Baggage Claim and Ground Transport West | Reduces strain for mobility needs or heavy luggage. |

Current family guidance calls out locations near A11 and B13; accessibility guidance also lists B11. The B13 family-assist restroom has an adult changing table.
Service-animal relief
Post-security locations are near A18 and B13. An outdoor area near baggage claim/Ground Transport East is landside.
Familiarization tour before travel
CVG offers first-hand familiarization tours for travelers who may benefit from practicing the airport journey, including people with disabilities or medical conditions, neurodivergent travelers, service-animal teams and people with travel anxiety. Tours are commonly provided on weekdays during office hours; CVG asks for requests at least one week before the desired tour date.
Where to relax, read, eat or get help inside CVG
The Club CVG
Concourse A lounge option. Access, hours and capacity are operator-controlled; verify before crossing from another concourse.
Escape Lounge moved near Gate B12
The new Concourse B space opened in 2026 near Gate B12. The current Escape listing shows normal daily hours of 5:00 a.m.–9:30 p.m.; check same-day admission and hours.
Delta Sky Club
Concourse B option for eligible travelers. Delta—not the airport—controls current admission rules.
Airport Library near B12
No library card is required. CVG’s airport feature says the library is available 24/7, the same hours as the airport; take/return a book under the program’s simple honor-system model.
Use the live Shop, Dine & Relax directory
Concession hours vary with location and flight activity. Search the official directory instead of building a trip around an old annual hours table.
Information booths and ambassadors
Useful for wayfinding, language/ASL assistance, accessibility questions and finding a service that moved during modernization.

Current office schedule
Mon/Thu/Fri 8 a.m.–6 p.m.; Tue/Wed 9 a.m.–5 p.m.; Sat 10 a.m.–3 p.m.; closed major holidays. Unclaimed items are held no longer than 30 days.
What the 2026 CVG Fact Sheet tells passengers—and what changed after it
The official one-page February 2026 CVG Fact Sheet is a dated snapshot. It is useful for airport scale and investment context, but route counts must be compared with the current passenger site rather than repeated indefinitely.
9M travelers in 2025
The PDF reports 9 million travelers in calendar 2025.
14 passenger airlines / tour operators
A February 2026 scale snapshot; carrier mix can change.
55+ nonstops in the PDF
The February sheet says 55+; CVG’s current destination page now lists 60 as of July 2026.
70% nonstop
The sheet says 70% of CVG passengers fly nonstop to their destination.
The $1.2 billion five-year capital plan explains why travelers see investment
The same CVG fact sheet lists a $1.2B five-year capital plan. That figure is useful passenger context when combined with the active Elevate CVG modernization program: investment is not just a future master-plan idea; active Terminal improvements are already underway.
Why the 7,000+ acre figure does not describe your walking distance
The fact sheet lists 7,000+ acres of airport property and major cargo operations, including Amazon Air and DHL. Your passenger journey remains concentrated in the one Terminal and Concourses A/B. The enormous campus figure should not be interpreted as the size of the passenger walking route.
CVG vs KCVG: when the four-letter airport code matters
Passengers normally need CVG. Pilots, dispatch systems, weather products and international aviation databases often use KCVG. FAA aerodrome information lists the airport reference elevation at 896.1 feet and identifies the airport as continuously attended.
| Identifier/data | Value | Who usually sees it |
|---|---|---|
| IATA | CVG | Passengers, tickets, bag tags, airline booking systems |
| FAA | CVG | U.S. aviation and airport references |
| ICAO | KCVG | Flight planning, international aviation systems, weather products |
| Airport reference point | 39°02′55.815″N, 84°40′04.155″W | Aviation charts/databases; not needed for passenger driving |
| Elevation | 896.1 ft | Operational/aviation reference |
| Runway 09/27 | 12,001 × 150 ft | Operational context |
CVG 2050 Master Plan vs Elevate CVG: future planning and current work are different
CVG says its 2050 Master Plan Update was completed in March 2021. The plan guides long-range improvements involving the Terminal and concourses, parking, cargo development, land use and sustainability. It is not a same-day passenger map.
| Source | What it represents | How a traveler should use it |
|---|---|---|
| 2050 Master Plan | Long-range facility and campus planning | Understand future direction; do not assume a planned facility is open. |
| Elevate CVG | Active multiyear Terminal modernization | Expect temporary construction routing and current passenger-space upgrades. |
| Current terminal map / signage | Today’s passenger routing | Use this for gates, ground transport, services and day-of-travel decisions. |

Official sources, PDF handling and internal-link policy
This guide prioritizes CVG Airport, FAA, TSA and TANK. Time-sensitive claims are dated and paired with the relevant live official page after the explanation. We do not invent security waits, open parking counts, gate assignments or provider availability.
Internal-link audit: the Airport-Guides.org post-sitemap endpoint did not surface reliably through the current web index during this refresh. No internal article URL is guessed. Add contextual internal links only after the live sitemap exposes a verified matching post URL.
